How to get a record corrected or removed
Corrections are free and reviewed first. Here is what counts as a correction, what to send, and what happens next.

If a record on this site is wrong, we want to know, and fixing it does not cost anything. That is worth stating plainly because a lot of sites in this category do not operate that way.

The two kinds of request

A correction is a claim that the record does not match reality. That covers more than people expect:

The information is wrong, or it is not you — mistaken identity is common with shared names

The charges were dismissed

You were found not guilty

The case resolved differently than the record shows

A court sealed or expunged it

All of those are free, and they are reviewed before anything else in the queue.

A discretionary removal is a request to take down a record that is accurate and lawfully published. Those are reviewed individually. If a service fee applies we quote it by email after reviewing the request, and you decide then whether to proceed. Payment is never collected through this website.

What to send

The name on the record, and the link to the page if you have it. For anything involving a court — a dismissal, an acquittal, a changed disposition, an expungement — the case number and the court are what let us confirm it fastest.

If a court has ordered a record sealed or expunged, say so on the form and we will tell you where to send the order.

What we will never ask you for

We do not need your Social Security number, your date of birth, or a photo of your ID, and you should not send them. If any site asks for those to remove a record, that is worth being suspicious about.

What happens next

A person reads every request. Court-ordered removals go first, then corrections, then everything else. You get a reply by email either way, including when the answer is no and why.

What we cannot do

We cannot remove a record from the county, the court, or the state registry. Those are the original sources and they publish independently of us — taking a record off this site does not take it off theirs. We also cannot reach a copy another site made before we changed ours.

Start here

The request form routes straight into the review queue, and the corrections and removals page has the longer version of all of this.
